Fransabank participates in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai-China
Fransabank Group participated in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), which took place in Shanghai-China from the 5 to 10 November 2018. The first CIIE hosted over 150,000 buyers and over 2,800 enterprises from more than 130 countries and regions, as well as international organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). National pavilions, company pavilions, and global trade forums held during the event. In May 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced at the Belt and Road forum for the international cooperation that China will hold China International Import Expo (CIIE) starting from 2018.

This Expo was a significant move for the Chinese Government to hold CIIE with a view of firmly supporting trade liberalization and economic globalization and actively opening the market to the world. It facilitates countries and regions all over the world to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, and to promote global trade and world economic growth in order to advance the development of an open world economy.

Under Fransabank’s umbrella, and to promote Lebanon and Lebanese products, Fransabank has participated in the expo with two booths of 18 m2 hosting the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Industry, Chateau Ksara and Genco Olive Oil.
Fransabank was the sole Lebanese entity officially registered at the Expo, with more than hundreds of visitors visiting its booth daily. Chinese companies, especially Chinese banks and financial institutes were very impressed with the long relationship of Fransabank and China over the past years.
The expo hosted many international and local Chinese banks like; The Bank of East Asia (BEA), HSBC, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), Standard Chartered, ICBC, KCB Bank Kenya Limited, EXIM Bank, Bank of China (BOC), Commerzbank, OCBC Bank etc. The SRCIC Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce and CCPIT China Council for the Promotion of International Trade also did participate in the Expo.
